Who would have imagined that in the year 2022 a ground war with guns, rockets and soldiers is still a reality?
Well, I think that the majority of people did not expect the whole world to enter into a state of high alert overnight.
But the events in Ukraine, for me, are a reminder that there is an ongoing spiritual war that is taking place. A war for the soul of man, for its destruction and alienation from God, that can take different forms, but the goal is the same.
The ministry in Craiova has its battles.
In the past months we had small victories when it came to getting the papers for the Church done so that we can function legally and be able to open a bank account. I have the privilege of doing secretary stuff for the church so a lot of the responsibilities are on me.
Also, my family and I have been sick with Covid-19 for two weeks, that was a hard time for us.
The Youth ministry had seen victories, because there were many new young people coming to our events and with the help of a World Race team from the USA, we were able to connect with a lot of them and serve them.
We thank GOd for them. They are truly a blessing for Craiova and the Church.
Now, because of the current events, we are dealing with a new crisis, that of the immigrants that are coming in Romania.
Pray for us as we do what we can to join in by helping and giving aid to those who are coming to Craiova.

What a blessed time it was to reunite with some of the university students that we came to know years ago.

I had the joy of organizing a One night in Pakistan intercultural event with one medical student from Pakistan.

The goal of events like this is to create a God space where young adults can interact, ask questions and be loved and served, especially if they are from a different culture and country.

We enjoy specific food, learn about the culture and customs of the particular country and it is a time of welcoming different nations that can be part of the many nations and languages that will worship and rejoice before the Lamb of God on that day.

One of the medical students that came thanked me at the end for events like this. For me and my wife, this is a major element that keeps us on the track.

Also, during the holidays, together with Raul and the world race team we managed to meet highschool students from different schools in Craiova to know them, give them a gift and let them know that we are a community of young people that love Jesus and we invite them to enjoy life with us.

A BIG thank you for all the support, both spiritually and financially, that you gave us during 2021. We would not have succeeded without you.

Mission work involves a lot of day to day activities that are not ministry, per se, but are crucial to one’s life and to your family, especially if you are married and have children.

And as much as you want to have a peaceful life, for everything to go as planned, there are things that you cannot control, but affect your life and ministry.

What exactly am I talking about, you may ask, well, after a normal day from picking the children from school we are involved in a car accident.

It wasn’t my fault, but the whole situation brought anger in my life especially because people in this region have such a big mouth even if it’s their fault and also because I was with the kids in the car.

So these past weeks I ve been trying to find a way to fix the car, but besides this I’m thankful that nothing happened with us or the kids and I managed to find a decent car repair service.

I know it doesn’t sound spiritual, but I believe that even things like this can disturb you from the ministry and take away your peace in the Lord.

I was glad that I could be involved in mobilizing a group of young adults from different countries, that visited Craiova, to join the American team at church for a time of interaction, relationship and discussions. Unfortunately I could not attend the event.

As for some final thoughts, please pray for our youth group as we started a new series called Alpha Course in which we explore some of the questions of life and the christian faith, based on short movie clips.

We want this to be a tool in bringing them closer to a biblical understanding of life and what God is calling them to be in this world.

It’s not easy but we want to be faithful and available to all of them so when the time comes we can point to concrete truths that they learned and lead them to Jesus.

Craiova has been under heavy spiritual oppression and deception for many, many years. The region and city is well known for the occult and witchcraft conferences that had taken place.

But in the past months, the Lord made me see that this spiritual deception is more and more introducing itself among the young generation of Romanian boys and girls.

We had the blessing and opportunity to organise a Youth camp for 15 youth from Craiova and I m saying straight that most of the conversations and discussions that we had during the camp involved spiritual entities, occultism and the need of Jesus as the only one that can be trusted and can save us from Satan’s deceptions.

In fact, sadly, there is a boy that I met in our workshop two years ago (he was in the camp) that is openly saying he is in contact with some of the spirits and wants to connect with them in order to gain powers.

A girl from camp told me that for many years she had dreams of spiritual entities and that she does not know what that means.

This spiritual war is getting more and more openly manifested and even we, as Romanian followers of Jesus, need to be prepared, both intellectually with the Truth and spiritually to expose the falsehood that is propagated through many means.

I also had the opportunity to involve some World Racers (american short term mission team) in a project where my friend Antonio was coordinating that had to do with cleaning a large part of the outskirts of Craiova. He invited me to their meeting where I had the chance to meet new young adults and have conversations about the spiritual realm.

Keep praying for us as we partner with churches and even non-christian organisations to be light and salt in Craiova.

Can you believe that it’s almost July and all the things with the pandemic are pretty much over?
We have been blessed during this time and we had many opportunities to be a blessing for so many people in Craiova.

As for me and my family, we want to be faithful in all the small things that God called us to be faithful here in Craiova. This means that many of the things that we do to serve people and missionaries will never be known.
Things like helping with christian brothers that come to Craiova for a few days, taking care of the buildings where we meet as a church and do our activities during the week, helping with transportation, having lectures for the online ministry.

Also the ministry with the youth is in itself a great opportunity that we are thankful for. We had a couple of teams from the North of Romania helping with events for the youth.

Visiting some of my college student friends that I met before the Coronavirus outbreak was a joy, given the fact that during the pandemic I could not do that.

All of these are not in themselves an end but just the means through which we want the Kingdom of Jesus the Messiah to be made known and expand in Craiova, through the power of the Spirit of Christ.
