Greetings from quarantined Romania. Like us most people in the world, we are inundated with news which only seems to relate to the pandemic. I figured it would be nice to talk about something else.
As many of you know we started an Awana Club in the village of Icoana a few months ago. During the four meetings we were blessed to hold, over 40 children attended from the community and surrounding villages. In this brief time we were able to clearly present the Gospel, and each child learned at least one verse by heart. Also, we were able to let each to take a New Testament home to read.
It’s amazing how the Lord works. In our last meeting we focused on a verse from 1 Chronicles 29:11 “Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power, and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” A fitting a verse to be placed in the hearts of children who would be facing this obstacle, to be left with the reminder that nothing is out of the hands of God.
During the meeting I recall with much pleasure the reactions of two girls when we discussed what God was like. I told them that God sees and knows everything. When asked how they felt about having such a God they both spoke up that they felt bad that He would know everything, like He was spying on them. Using these statements I was able to show them that they didn’t have to feel they were bad or being spied on. Jesus Christ came to take our punishment, and we can live in joy by listening to God.
As we are away from them for the time being, please pray that God continues to work truth into their hearts. Pray that they are drawn to reading their Bibles, and that understanding and wisdom are given to them beyond their comprehension level.
