Let me be real for a moment: No one is enjoying this virus spreading affliction throughout the world.
A few months ago who would have thought we would be facing this new “life-style?” The Holy Spirit did! Looking at the Apostle Paul’s ministry we see God leading him around each barrier to spread the gospel. I am encouraged seeing each obstacle Paul was given as a new opportunity, seeing him led by the Spirit of the Lord through it. It shows me that the Gospel can’t be handcuffed, isolated or quarantined. It’s amazing how Dr. Luke ends the story of these events: “Paul stayed two years in a house that he had rented. He welcomed all who came to see him, preached the kingdom of God, taught people with boldness and without any hindrance, those things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 28:30-31). According to commentators Paul was under house arrest while this happened in Rome.
Likewise, I am glad I’ve had the opportunity to bring the message of hope in the Gospel to families. These families are filled with fear during these times: fear of the unknown, fear of what may happen, fear for loved ones in Italy, Spain or other countries where there are large outbreaks of infection.
I now visit 14 families. The Găceanu family is the last one added to my list. For a long time we have prayed for a family in the village of Ursoaia. There is no born-again Christian in this village, and until now no family who was ready to hear the gospel. Ursoaia is part of the community where we serve, pray and take the Gospel. The family is made up of Ionuț (father) and Geanina (mother) and the two little girls. Both have been married previously. Geanina gladly told me that they have a good relationship and are enjoying this new beginning for their lives. I told her more about what God has done for her and about God’s Word. The next time I go I will take a Bible for her children and one for her and her husband. We offered three boxes of food to each family I visited because I anticipated that the state of emergency would cancel much of our movement throughout the country, keeping us isolated. At home I will keep in touch with these families by phone. Join with me in praying diligently for each of them.
Pray that God will bring salvation to this family and this village!
