Jesus is a role model for us in serving people. Full of emotion, we want to share with you some of our ministry in Corabia, Oltenia.
Matthew 4:23 Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.
One wave calls another wave
The other day, I had an experience that impressed me a lot. God facilitated through the Hope for the Community Association, the possibility to buy a ton of wood for two families. I went to all the wood storage I knew and to my surprise, they ran out of wood. My wife and I decided to go to a storage we wanted to avoid,to not buy wood from them. Why? Because the boss has often spoken out against the gospel we were preaching. We found wood at this storage, but we had to wait for the owner to be able to buy it. While we were waiting, we had the opportunity to preach the gospel to a man who was very dissatisfied with his financial situation.
When the owner of the storage came, the wood was weighed, and I took it to the first family. At the second family, I also went by car, because the one from whom I bought the wood was also the same person who drove the transport car, he didn’t know where the family we wanted to help lived. On the way, we discussed the desire to help these young people who work for his business and break wood. Many of them came to our worship meetings.
We took the wood, we unloaded, those who unloaded were amazed by the poverty of those people we helped. After we returned and said goodbye, the owner called me and said, âIf you want to help others who are as poor as the ones we saw today, I will give you the wood cheaper than I took it because I want to help a little tooâ. I was impressed by the reaction of these people when they saw the condition of the people we serve.
An unforeseen change
We are followers of a change in good, and we have made from this change apurpose of our lives. But we didn’t plan to change the place where we worshiped. In the first phase, I saw that the owner of the meeting room rented the smaller room to a man who opened a fastfood business, and when it was ready to open it, I noticed the refrigerated boxes and other products stored on the access road to the room where we gather .
I understood that we cannot be with the church in the same place where there is such a business. I was looking for another place to worship. I contacted the Pastor from the Nehemiah association who lives in Caracal. We have found goodwill, and so, since December 20, we are gathering in the building of the Nehemiah Association every Sunday morning. But when we had to leave the old location, we realized it was time to build a room for worship. We will build this room in the courtyard of the mission house. House that until now used as a home for me and my family.
Holidays with restrictions, but not abolished
The holidays for us have always been an opportunity to serve people spiritually but also materially. The year 2020, although there were restrictions, we continued to serve, We did not manage to have events as we had in other years, but we visited at home children and families who usually came to the event. In this ministry joined with us the Christian foundation O.M. through the involvement of Brother Michael Jordan who is German by origin, but who has been serving God in Romania for many years. The brother helped to raise the necessary funds but also to prepare the packages, visits and bring the news of the Birth of the Lord through carols.
Our holiday service continued with carols sung by the group of young people from Sebes Alba, who were with us every year. Our joy is that both in Corabia and in the village Tia Mare the news of the Birth was spread through music, but also through the short message spoken by Brother Vlad at every house where we stopped.
A simple need, a great joy
Missionaries are people who think and seek to serve the spiritual and material needs of the people they want to see saved. Blessed are those who bring joy to missionaries. In December, my wife and I had the opportunity to buy a pair of winter boots.
Prayer requests:
- Pray to God that all who have been served may come to salvation
- Pray that those who have declared that they want to follow Jesus will also accept the challenge of being baptized.
- Pray that this year we will raise the necessary resources to build the room where we want to worship. Our prayer is to build it this year.
