I have never imagined how it will be when I will be old. The hard times I will go through, the loneliness I will face or the bad health I will have. All of these seem so far for a 26 years, old and yet I will grow old.
I pray and I want to be like the elders in my church or the ones I visit who, despite trembling hands, read the Bible or, despite their longing feet, continue to come to church meetings.
The other day I went with my family to visit an elderly sister which is alone. She had been ill for a period and she couldn’t take care of herself or her needs
I expected to hear from her dissatisfaction or grievances, but all I heard were thanks and praise for God, for the way He mobilized even the neighbors who do not go to an evangelical church to come to her aid.
I could see how God keeps His promise in Scripture that says, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46:4a
Even though the promise was made in the Old Testament to the Jewish people, God shows the same kindness to us.
I was also surprised to see how much our visit meant to her and how much joy it could bring her to be able to hold our older little girl in her arms and play with her. These seemingly insignificant things have so much significance for those who are alone and have no one around, and yet people like this sister remain devoted and faithful to God even in their loneliness.
Please continue to pray with us for the following reasons!
- for the elders of our church and not only;
- for young people who will be old one day, to grow old believers and devoted to God;
- for our church’s needs, (having two buildings that we use all the time we have to take care of them and because we want to be a good testimony for the neighbors we have to keep them as arranged as we can. At one of the buildings, we have to change the fence because it is broken This is the building from Icoana where we usually hold the small study group, programs for youth and children, but also other occasional events. Changing the fence is expensive for our small church. That’s why we need your help and any small donation means a lot to us.)
- the financial needs of our family, we still need 50% support.
